AC Energy Cost Estimator

Find out how much your AC is adding to your TNB electricity bill each month — and how much you could save by upgrading to an inverter unit.

How the Cost Estimate is Calculated

The calculator uses Malaysia's real TNB tiered domestic tariff — not a flat average — so higher monthly usage is priced at higher marginal rates, just like your actual bill.

1

Actual wattage

Rated wattage × efficiency factor (inverter models draw ~30% less power than non-inverter).

2

Monthly kWh

Daily consumption (kWh) = wattage ÷ 1,000 × hours/day. Monthly = daily × days used.

3

TNB tiered cost

Each band of monthly kWh is charged at the respective TNB rate — the same calculation TNB uses for your monthly bill.

TNB Domestic Tariff (current rates)

First 200 kWh RM 0.218 / kWh
201–300 kWh RM 0.334 / kWh
301–600 kWh RM 0.516 / kWh
601–900 kWh RM 0.546 / kWh
Above 900 kWh RM 0.571 / kWh

A dirty AC uses up to 25% more electricity

Clogged fins force the compressor to work harder, raising your bill. A chemical wash typically restores 90–95% of original efficiency.
